A bit of Internet evangelism

I received this link from one of our members and thought I would post it here for others to enjoy. I think this comes from our own Adventist media services. Just click here.

Todd Christie writes about his mom - Diane Benecke

I received this via e-mail from Todd. He wanted to share it with the whole church. Most of you know that we have been praying for Diane since she was diagnosed with lung cancer (no, she has never smoked). Let's keep on holding Diane up before the Lord in prayer.

I have been so pleased with the outreach and prayer
offered by members of our church for my mom, Diane
Beneke. As you probably know she was diagnosed with
lung cancer. By the power of prayer she did not have
the cancer in her spine, only in her chest. She will
have chemotherapy today from 7 to 11 a.m. followed by
radiation. The chemo is a only today and will possibly
be repeated in 3 weeks depending on how the cancer and
her body responds. She will be having radiation
treatments for 15 minutes a day, 5 days a week for 5
weeks. She may have surgery after the chemo and
radiation if everything goes well. Thanks so much for
your prayers. they help more than anything else. We
have been sending a great deal of time as a family
recently and have seen many blessings come already
despite these recent challenging times. My mom has
stayed tremendously positive and loves her church
family and looks to each of you as a friend. thanks
for being there for her. much love, todd

Family Life Education Offered by Andrews University

I thought some of you might want to take advantage of this opportunity. We need some members who will respond to the call to help families. If you think God might be calling you in this direction, consider attending one of these events and committing to Family Ministry.

Graduate Certificate Program in Family Life Education, July 19-29

We have a program that is designed to provide answers and resources to help pastors and family directors deal with family issues. Are you familiar with the training in family studies that is available at Andrews University during the summer? We offer a 12-credit (semester credit) graduate certificate program in Family Life Education. You may already know that this program can be completed in three consecutive summers by attending classes on the Andrews campus for two weeks in July.

This summer the two courses to be taught are:
July 19 to 22 – Family Dynamics – Taught by Dr. Nancy Carbonell
July 26 to 29 – Interpersonal Relationships & Human Sexuality - Taught by Ron and Karen Flowers

Adventist Family Conference on the Andrews Campus, July 23-25
During the Friday to Sunday weekend between the two courses, the North American Division holds its annual Adventist Family Conference on the Andrews campus. This year the presenter for all day Friday will be Dr. Dan Trathen speaking on “Making Marriage Work.” He is a licensed psychologist and an adjunct professor at Denver Seminary. He is co-author of A Lasting Promise: A Christian Guide to Fighting for Your Marriage. And he has written numerous articles for a variety of journals including Marriage and Family.

Those who are enrolled in the Andrews University Family Life courses can attend the conference without additional charge. For more information on the Adventist Family Conference, see their brochure at http://family.nadadventist.org. Then click on Events–July–Brochure.

NAD Training in Family Ministry in English and Spanish, July 21, 22

The North American Division also offers five 90-minute training modules in family ministry on July 21 and 22. (Five modules-of a total of 10-are given each year. Upon completion of the 10 modules, the NAD awards a certificate.) These modules are an ideal introduction to family ministry for new family ministry leaders in the local churches. They are given in two tracks-one in English and one in Spanish. A bachelor's degree is not required.

How to Register

The time is urgent. People interested in the graduate certificate program need to formally apply and then they need to begin preparing for the summer classes by ordering books and beginning their reading. To get an information packet about the program, anyone interested should send us their name and mailing address to reled@andrews.edu.
